Two More Human Cases Of H5N6 Bird Flu In China Is Threatening The World

Two more human cases of H5N6 bird flu have been detected in China
According to CIDRAP News– On 27th January, China reported an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in ducks. Because of this, the World Health Organization (WHO) together with other international groups are appealing for a multinational campaign to stop the disease’s across Asia. This is a threat to the entire world and so must be stopped ASAP.
More infections are being recorded in nearby countries.
It’s surprising to see bird flu surfaces in the news again. As the world keeps on dealing with coronavirus, another threat has been detected in China.
This time around it is the A(H5N6) bird flu. There is a new record of two more cases of avian influenza A(H5N6) in China.
According to sources, the patient is a 68-year-old man living in Langzhong. He is reported to be in a critical condition without much detail.
The second patient is a 55-year-old woman living in Hangzhou. Reports say she had been exposed to slaughtered poultry.
WHO has been notified about this threat and has responded by saying the rise of this avian influenza A(H5N6) is due to enhanced surveillance of birds due to the COVID-19 protocols. The virus keeps on circulating within the birds.
Records from WHO show that, from January 2003 to 30 December 2021, there have been 863 cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) from 18 different countries.
A country like Thailand has recorded a second death from this avian influenza. Other cases are cutting across Asia. As a way to curtail this problem, thousands of birds have been destroyed.
The world doesn’t want to see a second bird flu epidemic like what happened in late 2002 to 2003.
