An 80 Year Old US Nun Sentenced For Stealing $835,000

It’s shocking news to the world to hear a Nun steal a huge amount of money. It feels like the Devil is winning too many Christians through the love of money.
If people who are trusted and revered like Mary Margaret Kreuper are falling into the hands of the Devil, then members are questioning their leadership roles.
In the United States, an 80-year old Nun known as Mary Margaret Kreuper has been jailed for stealing thousands of dollars from a Catholic school in CA.
After investigation pointed out to her as the one responsible for the lost money — she admitted it. Kreuper ate the humble pie that she stole $835,000 (£614,000) to finance her personal holidays to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. Again, she used some of the money to pay “large gambling expenses incurred at casinos”.
On Tuesday, The law court sentenced her upon hearing her plea as guilty to embezzlement of funds and indulging in wire fraud. She has been sent to jail to spend 12 months and a day in federal prison, and has been ordered to pay an amount of $825,338 in restitution.
This is an unbelievable act from a woman of such caliber. Authorities charged her for money laundering for the past 28 years she has worked as a principal at St. James Catholic School, in the US state of California.
Mary Kreuper is known to have worked in the school for about 28 years. According to sources, in 2018, there was a managerial change because of some inconsistencies in the financial accounts of the school. Things were not clear concerning the funds in the school’s purse.
After pleading guilty to wire fraud and money laundering she expressed her regrets by saying:
“I have sinned, I’ve broken the law and I have no excuses,” Kreuper said during her sentencing, according to The Guardian.
“My actions were in violation of my vows, my commandments, the law and, above all, the sacred trust that so many had placed in me.”
In a statement, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, which oversees the school, said these reviews, “showed a substantial amount of school funds had been misappropriated for personal use by Sister Mary Margaret during her tenure as school principal.”
It’s quite sad to see an 80-year-old woman of God living a reckless life because of money.
The Us District judge in charge of the case called Otis D. Wright II, found it difficult to sentence Mary Kreuper. It appears that he felt sorry for her.
She told the judge: “I was wrong, and I am profoundly sorry for the pain and the suffering that I have caused so many people“.
According to the LA Times Judge Wright said:
“I haven’t slept well in God knows how long.”
Whatever the case is, The US Nun known as Mary Kreuper has to spend some months in the prison yard. She will be out with one more year added to her current age which will give her 81 years.
Hopefully, she has repented already and asked for forgiveness from the Lord.
