What Makes A Good Christian Family? The Husband, Wife And Children

A family is the backbone of an entire society or a country. By building it on the “Rock of Ages” you will enjoy greater blessings. You would enjoy genuine happiness and prosperous life. Often, Christians forget to allow God to lead in search of a potential marriage partner.

Before I go into details about the things that make a good Christian family; let me draw your attention to marriage. Before a Christian gets married; he/she must be patient for God to bring in the right spouse. Is this too hard for God?

Oh no, the problem is, many are impatient and faithless, so they step ahead of God and make wrong choices. This mistake can cost you your whole life.

Well, assuming you are married to the most suitable spouse; congratulations! Raising kids become very essential. That is when you begin to fulfill what the Bible says in Genesis 1:22:

“God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”

Again, in Genesis 1:28 the Bible reads:

“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply! Fill the earth and subdue it! Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that moves on the ground.”

Marriage is an institution established by God. This calls for His intervention in all angles of Christian couples who are living for Christ Jesus.

Now a married couple who are Christian believers has to raise children to fill this earth. To multiply and reach out to the world with their God-fearing Children.

Since a family is the backbone of a whole society or country — we must be mindful about the kind of children we are going to raise.

Children born into a Christian family must be trained well with sound Biblical doctrines.  Christian spirituality lessons must be put into practice. The Bible is a book full of Spiritual insight, moral lessons, the truth to a happy and successful life. And more importantly, eternal life.

The word of God is what helps a family to be happy, successful and fruitful from generation to generation. God blessed Abraham and Jacob and their descendants because they walked with Him in faithfulness.

It’s unfortunate, some families have a very bad historical background. The grandparents did not lay the foundation on Christ Jesus.

This results in things like generational curses, bad luck, poverty, retrogressive lives, and a lot of suffering.

A family like this needs the Power of the blood of Jesus to break and cleanse anything that is not of God in the family.

Simple Practices That Make A Good Christian Family

The Bible has stated categorically that a man is the head of the family. So a man in a Christian family has a lot of responsibilities by shaping the family’s core beliefs, activities, and everything in a way that will glorify God. He is the breadwinner and the ruler of the house.

There are simple things that help a family to grow in the Spirit of God and be fruitful on earth.

Daily Prayers

Daily prayers are one of the most important things a family should rely on. The Husband, wife, and children must be very prayerful. A parent has the responsibility to teach all children in the family how to pray and have a decent relationship with God.

In the morning, a Christian family has to say some prayers. This could be done through morning devotion. Just a quick one to thank God and praise His Holy name.

A regular prayer schedule in a Christian family helps a lot. The Devil always targets marriages because it is God’s institution.

Make your family pray on regular basis to keep the devil and his agents away. There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a husband, wife, and children pray together for God’s help, guidance, protection, blessings and thanking Him for all the good things He has done.

Churching

Another important thing that makes a good Christian family is Churching. Although, this is not mandatory —it is very essential. As you strive to keep the temple of God (your body) holy and acceptable to God; you should try your best to join other faithful believers at church and worship together.

Joshua and his family chose to worship the Lord. This is a good example for all Christian families.

“If you have no desire to worship the LORD, choose today whom you will worship, whether it be the gods whom your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But I and my family will worship the LORD!” (Joshua 24:15)

Regular Bible Study

The next thing a Christian family needs is a regular Bible study. There are blessings in the word of God. Anyone who treasures God’s word will enjoy many blessings.

In a typical Christian house —you will find a family Bible there. This symbolizes how they have prioritized the word of God.

Most often the Bible instructs us to study it day and night, meditate on it day and night. This is what King Solomon used to do. He stored the word of God in his heart.

Together, the whole family will grow in heavenly wisdom. They will always triumph over the devil and his agents. Remember, God’s eyes are always on His faithful children.

Love Patience And Kindness

Love, patience, and kindness are some of the many virtues that must exist in a Christian family. Infidelity, lies, anger, unforgiveness etc, must not have their way in a Christian family.

If you call yourself a child of God and you do not know how to love your wife, husband, children, friends, neighbors, sisters, etc, then you are not a good Christian.

1 Corinthians 13 defined and explained to us what love is and what love can do in the lives of people.

God is love and so anyone who does not love is not of God. Show love by caring for the people around you. Be kind to everyone in the family and outside the family.

These are some of the things that make a good Christian family. The Lord wants His children to put Him first in everything. He Blesses and let them increase from generation to generation.

Have Fun Together

Finally, you can get out together for some fun. There is no sin in having fun with the family. Go out there to enjoy nature. If you can — travel to other towns or fly away to different countries to explore this beautiful world.

This adventure will help tighten the family ties, release stress and bring in more happiness. God wants us to be happy, enjoy the fruits of our labor and glorify Him in everything we do.
