Who is Emmitt Smith?

Emmitt Smith is an American former football running back who is known to have played in the National Football League (NFL) with Dallas Cowboys for 15 seasons. He is well known as the league’s best all-time rusher.

Biography

Emmit Smith was born on May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida, U.S. His father James Smith Jr. and his mother Mary J. Smith saw him grow with great enthusiasm for football.

At age eight, Emmitt played his first organized football. He also got involved actively playing at the High School level at Escambia in Pensacola. He was a good player with the Escambia Gators in his high school days.

In the history of American high school football, Emmitt became the second-leading rusher.

With an incredible performance in football since childhood, he is now an NFL record holder of rushing yards with 18,355 since 27th October 2002. In 2010, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Emmit Smith married a beautiful woman called Patricia Southall —former Miss Virginia USA on April 22, 2000. This came after his early relationship with Hope Wilson hit the rock with one daughter. In all, Smith is having four children (3 with his current with Pat)

In 2002, Smith and his wife Pat, founded the Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities to specifically help children grow their potential.

Smith is a Christian with great religious beliefs. He has faith in God and has been vocal about this by granting interviews to tell what the Lord has done in his entire life.

He understands the importance of connecting with a higher source of power being his Creator.

Emmitt once said :

“I was actually looking for answers where I kept asking myself – what am I doing,” “If you’re not settled spiritually, things can be a little bit more chaotic than normal.”

He loves to recite Bible passages especially the one taught by his grandmother several years ago. He always remembers that in life:
